Eco Church – Guide to Waste

St Luke's Church in Hedge End

Being a good steward of God’s creation involves considering how we deal with our waste. As an Eco Church, we want to encourage the use of alternatives to dumping in landfill.

You may have come across the 5Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle. It’s possible to apply those principles to many of the items typically placed in general waste bins.

Scroll through the list below to find out where you can recycle / donate / compost / deposit your waste. If you want to know more, click on the answer to go to the relevant website.

Some of the answers below depend on where you live. The list below has been compiled for those who live in councils near to St Luke’s. For specifics on what can be put in your recycling bin, please visit the Eastleigh / Southampton / Winchester / Fareham council website. Otherwise, if you live further away, please consult your local council’s website.
