St Luke’s Church situated in Grange Park, Hedge End, Southampton is available for hire throughout the week. The main worship area can be booked as well as several multi-purpose rooms. All rooms offer flexibility and can support many different layouts and configurations. You can book any one or more of the rooms, according to your needs and their availability.
The facilities are designed to accommodate a wide variety of members of the local community including: Christian Church and ministry; charitable activities; children’s events; leisure and fitness activities; music and dance and more.
Both regular and one-off bookings are welcomed.

Ground Floor
First Floor
Worship Area
Description
The worship area has a beautiful, modern design with an oval shape, high ceiling, carpeted floor and raised wooden platform at the front. There is a semicircular first floor gallery with an excellent view of the church interior. The church is well heated and has excellent acoustics and lighting.
This space has been used to host concerts, large meetings, charity meals, film clubs and more.
Capacity
The worship area 117m² of usable space and holds up to 200 people: 150 on the ground floor and 50 on the first floor gallery.
Facilities
The church has 272 moveable, stackable chairs, the vast majority of which reside in the worship area.
There is a modern, high-spec audio-visual (AV) system* controlled from the first floor gallery. Both static and roving mics are available with speakers situated all around the room. There is a double-projection system for the wall at the front. A TV is attached to the first floor gallery, visible to those presenting, which mirrors what is shown on the projectors.
An organ, keyboard and drums are available on request, all of which can be equipped with mics and controlled by the AV system*.
Accessibility
The worship area has wheelchair access on the ground floor via the front door to the church, through two sets of double doors. Note there is no lift and therefore no wheelchair access to the first floor of the building. Access to the first floor balcony can be found via the steps in the church foyer and via the two sets of stairs to the left and right of the front wooden platform. Two fire escapes are also situated either side of the front wooden platform.
The audio visual system has an induction loop system to assist those with hearing aids.
8 chairs with armrests are available to ease transfers (i.e. sitting down and standing up) for those with limited mobility.

Fully functional kitchen suitable for catering for small and large functions.
St Luke’s is registered on the Eco Church scheme and as such we encourage all who use these facilities to opt for reusable, washable cups as opposed to disposable, single-use plastic cups. Where possible, we also encourage hirers to provide vegetarian or vegan food as a substitute for, at least in part, meat-based dishes where possible.
Capacity
Hundreds of servings of food and drink can be made through the hatches both into the coffee room and the worship area.
Facilities
Fully functional kitchen utilities include: microwave, industrial dishwasher, oven with grill, sink, and an industrial coffee percolator, and fridge-freezer. The kitchen has a large number of cups, crockery and cutlery available for use. Recycling and food waste bins are provided in addition to a general waste bin. Accessibility
There is a flat, non-stepped doorway to the kitchen from the hallway, though the doorframe is standard width with a relatively narrow gap between the work surfaces.
An external door of standard width exits to the rose garden to the side of the church.
Room 1 "The Lounge"
Description
This large and lofty function room with a relaxed atmosphere.
This room houses the worship area banners, making the most of the storage made available by the height of the room.
This room is commonly used for less formal meetings and gatherings.
Capacity
Room 1 measures 4.6m x 6.1m.
Facilities
The room is equipped with a number of comfortable sofas and chairs. There is a white board mounted on one of the walls.
Accessibility
Please note that wheelchair access is not possible as this room is located on the first floor and there is no lift in the building. If wheelchair access is required, it is recommended that the coffee room, room 4 or the ground floor of the worship area be considered instead.
Room 2
Description
A recently refurbished, highly functional, modern room. It has been newly decorated and furnished to a high specification.
Capacity
Room 1 can cater for up to 8 people (not socially distanced) and measures 4.7m x 3.3m.
Facilities
The room has 4 chairs, 2 armchairs, a sofa, a round table and three coffee tables. The large windows bathe the room in natural sunlight while the newly fitted blinds can offer privacy and confidentiality as and when required.
Accessibility
Please note that wheelchair access is not possible as this room is located on the first floor and there is no lift in the building. If wheelchair access is required, it is recommended that the coffee room, room 4 or the ground floor of the worship area be considered instead.
Room 3
Description
A large, well lit, carpeted room on the first floor.
This room is normally used for youth group activities and table tennis. For a seated event, the room is large enough to support a number of table and chair layouts including: banquet, u-shape, imperial or cabaret.
Capacity
Room 1 measures 4.7m x 7.2m.
Facilities
According to your needs, and those of the other users in the building, some of the 272 church chairs and 8 rectangular tables can be made available.
A table tennis table is available on request.
Accessibility
Please note that wheelchair access is not possible as this room is located on the first floor and there is no lift in the building. If wheelchair access is required, it is recommended that the coffee room, room 4 or the ground floor of the worship area be considered instead.
Quiet Room
Description
A recently refurbished and redecorated ground floor meeting room.
Ideal for small groups and one-to-one counselling sessions.
Capacity
Room 1 measures 3.8m x 2.4m.
Facilities
The blinds offer privacy and confidentiality as and when required.
Accessibility
This room is wheelchair accessible: it is situated on the ground floor and all doors leading to this room from the floor entrance are level. Note, however, that the single doorway is of standard width and due to the dimensions of the room, there is limited space to manoeuvre.
Coffee Room
Description
A carpeted, light, spacious function room.
Typically, this room is used as a social space after functions in the worship area. A number of meetings also take place here.
Capacity
Room 1 measures 4.7m x 7.2m.
Facilities
The room has hatches through to the kitchen, facilitating the serving of food and drink.
Of the 272 moveable and stackable chairs, a significant number (approx. 40-50) are available for this room. In addition, there are 6 square, moveable tables.
Accessibility
This room is wheelchair accessible: it is situated on the ground floor and all doors leading to this room from the floor entrance are level. Note, however, that the single doorway is of standard width.
