Volunteer Musical Worship Leader

St Luke's Church in Hedge End

Volunteer Role Description

Volunteer Musical Worship Leaders

St Luke’s has a strong tradition of modern guitar and keyboard led Christian worship music which lift our hearts, souls and hands to God in praise and wonder.

Duties and Responsibilities

We are looking for worship leaders who will be responsible for leading the musical worship for the week that they are on rota. The worship leader will be responsible for organising practice for their week and will lead the worship team on Sunday morning. They will also be responsible for selecting appropriate music based on the theme and scripture reading chosen by the service leader.

Skills

Confident and competent musicians or singers with the love of God and passion to lead others into worship.

Time required

Music selection usually takes around 30 minutes earlier in the week. Practices are generally held on a Friday evening in church for around 45 minutes.  One to two Sunday mornings a month in church, depending on the number of volunteers.  Set up (sound system/mics etc set up by the AV team) and sound check around 9am on a Sunday morning in time for prayer with the service leader at 9.50am.

Training

Music selection and any relevant technical training will be provided. Technical knowledge is not generally required as the worship leader will be supported by those in the AV team.
